HAYSYS has commenced a new Research and Development project with SSEN, to develop a unique tool that will allow their operatives to locate an open-circuit in buried cables, with an accuracy of better than 1 meter, allowing them to locate and excavate with a single dig. The new ‘Open Circuit Detector’ will allow open circuit faults to be located and repaired with a single excavation with confidence.
The equipment will also allow the location of the faults, even when the power has been restored to both sides of the open circuit!
This tool will result is a great reduction in Customer Minutes Lost (CMLs), restoring power much faster to all customers, improving customer satisfaction.
The project will be 18 months in duration and will result in a market ready solution.
